A Journey to Educate for Life

Starts Here

Our Story

We would like to thank you again for your previous contributions to our non-profit organization. Members of our team have continued to be passionate about providing students with environments that facilitate learning. However, we have decided to change directions with the non-profit this year. As May 2022 comes to a close, we are reminded of a very important day—the one-year anniversary of Lucas’s brain surgery.

“At four years old, my son was diagnosed with epilepsy. The night started just like any other. I kissed my daughter goodnight and my son lay next to me as he slept. I was later awoken by what I believed was the dog’s scratching. But once I opened my eyes, I saw my four-year-old son with his eyes rolled back in his head, convulsing and unable to breathe. I yelled for my husband to wake up, and we dialed 911. We all rushed to the hospital in a panic. This is where Lucas’s journey with epilepsy began. – Linda

Lucas Dream.

Although the past 10 years have come with some difficulties, Lucas never let it stop him from enjoying life. As he aged, though, he was given the choice to receive surgery that could possibly stop his seizures all together. After many tests, it was determined that two parts of his brain needed to be removed. Although as parents we were terrified, Lucas wanted the surgery. In May of last year, he had his left amygdala and hippocampus removed. It has been a long journey, but we are happy to report that he is currently seizure free and starting to go off medication.

“Although this is a story with a happy ending, many kids are not cured by their procedures. It is my dream to help non-profits, hospitals and other organizations to support families with epilepsy. I have been passionate about this for some time now. I even imagine myself studying at a university to become a doctor for epileptic children. Please know I am working on updating the website, and I look forward to everyone seeing what I do with it. Anyone who wants to volunteer to raise money please let me know and I’ll include you on the new website. Thank you for celebrating this with me!” -Lucas
